General Information of Southern Cross Safaris

Southern Cross Safaris provides experienced
German and English speaking tour guides, who will convey their knowledge
of our country, its inhabitants and the way of life in the bush
to you.
Our bush camps are usually pitched in open
nature where animals roam freely. Accommodation will be
in form of a 2-man-Iglo tents with attached floor, equipped with
sleeping bags, mattresses, bed-linen, pillows, towels, woollen
blankets and chairs.

To speed up the building and the taking down of the camp, it would
be appreciated if the guests could participate in these processes.
The pitching
of the tents is easy and our team will gladly assist.
Lanterns will illuminate the nightly camp.
Our camp kitchen serves a rich breakfast,
cold lunch and in the evening a scrumptious freshly prepared meal
from the open fire. Cold drinks are available throughout,
but must be paid upfront.
We always have an information meeting for our guests, the evening
before departure.

Inclusive
Bed, breakfast, lunch and dinner - sightseeing, entrance fees and
boat trips mentioned in the program. You are travelling
in a specially adjusted, spacious Mercedes Benz Unimog - Safari
bus (big windows and roof sliding door). For less than
5 travelling guests we use a Safari Land Cruiser or a similar 4x4
vehicle. Over night you are accommodated in double or - on special
order - single Iglo-tents with attached floor sheet furnished with
mattresses, sleeping bags, pillows, sheets, a woollen blanket, towels
and chairs.
Not included in the price
Personal expenditures like drinks, telephone calls and tips for
tour guides and other personnel.
Luggage
The weight of the personal baggage is restricted to 15kg. Traveller
bags, no suitcases please! For the contents of this
bag we recommend: for the winter - long trousers, 1 woollen
pullover, 1 parka, a pair of walking shoes, a jogging suit for
the evenings. For the other seasons a pair
Of shorts, sandals and cool summer clothes are suitable.
Do not forget your sunglasses, suntan lotion, hat, bathing costume
and sandals, torch, camera and binoculars. During
the safari there will be numerous opportunities to wash clothes.
Travel documents
Europeans travelling in Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe need a
passport which is valid for at least 6 months, from date of entrance
to Namibia. Persons of other nationalities should please collect
information, regarding their travel documents, from their respective
Embassies. The client is responsible for optaining the necessary
visas for the countries to be visited.
Vaccinations
Special vaccinations are not needed - prophylactic malaria treatment
is recommended. Please do consult your doctor or pharmacist
as well.
Foreign exchange
Only N$ 2000.00 cash per person may be brought into the country.
There is no restriction to the amount of any other currency.
Pula can only be exchanged in Botswana. We recommend
N$, DM and US$ in cash or travellers cheques.

| Booking conditions
Price changes
The prices are set according to the present tariff (01.08.
2004). The safari management reserves the right to adjust
prices if unforeseen cost increases occur.
Conditions of payment
For a fixed booking a prepayment of 15% is required. The
rest-payment must reach us no later then 5 weeks before commencement
of travel. Guest with outstanding payment will not be able to
participate.
Cancellation fees
up to 35 days before commencement of travel 15% (prepayment)
35-29 days before commencement of travel 40% of the safari price
28-14 days before commencement of travel 50% of the safari price
13-06 days before commencement of travel 60% of the safari price
05-00 days before commencement of travel 100% of the safari price
Insurance
Southern Cross Safaris as well as any other travelling agent are
only agents for the traveller and cannot be held responsible for
any delay, accidents, illness, death, injury and losses.
Therefore we recommend each travelling guest in our country to
take out a special travel insurance for foreign countries to cover
medical care for illness and accidents, medical care transport
back to their home country, any other losses due to accidents,
luggage (camera and binoculars) and cancellation costs.
We do have a Med-rescue Service available in Namibia of which
visitors could make use on application.
Safari Departure
Clients should ensure to be at the pre-arranged point of departure
at least 30 minutes before departure, otherwise the participation
expires and moneys will not be refunded. We recommend to
arrive and depart Namibia at least one day before and after the
safari. Pre-and post accommodation can be arranged by us.
The right to change the program due to weather conditions and
migration of animals is reserved by the safari management - to
the benefit of our guests.
Southern Cross Safaris also offers tailor-made Selfdrive and
individual guided Tours through Namibia and Botswana - duration
and destination according to your wishes.
